Canoe Trip details

Shooting Camp has come to a close and Canoe camp is two weeks out!!! As this might be a first overnight float trip for some of you, here is what you need to know.

Boats: The boys will be paddling canoes, paired up older boy with younger boy so we have a good balance of strength and ability and don't have one boat racing ahead while another struggles. Parents will have the option of a canoe or a kayak if you own one but please keep in mind that all the gear for 35 plus people has to go somewhere!!! We have rounded up enough canoes for everyone so if don't have a boat at all, no worries

PFDS: Everyone paddling must wear a life jacket. Please make sure that you have one and that it fits!!!

Short video on selecting and fitting a PFD

We do have a couple of extra PFDS floating around but if you need one they are first come first serve and it will be a crap shoot if there is an extra that fits. Let me know asap if you dont have one and cant get one.

Packing tips:
Sleeping bag: Walmart sells huge ziplock bags that will fit an average sleeping bag
Garbage bags don't do well as they tear and can leak
A cheap 5 gallon bucket with a lid works very well
Dry bags are the most expensive but work fantastic as they are designed for it

Clothes: Roll clothes instead of folding them and place an outfit in a ziplock bag or small dry bag
Pack your individual bags into a backpack or larger dry bag
DO NOT OVERPACK, most of the time you will be in a swimsuit
Two people should be able to fit personal gear minus a sleeping bag in a standard backpack
